Robert Gruber is a photographer based in Brooklyn. Shooting quickly with intuitive framing and exposure, his images capture the extraordinary juxtapositions of ordinary life.

Robert learned photography basics from friends and proceeded to make every possible mistake experimenting in his parents' basement darkroom. He supplmemented this informal education by lurking in Chelsea galleries and online photo forums, as well as by attending classes at the International Center of Photography and The New School in Manhattan.

He still develops his own film in the kitchen sink, but his darkroom has become a Mac.

Robert also maintains PROVOKE, a photoblog that showcases his experiments and latest works.
